If traveling the skies is involved in your arrival to Salamanca, you have two viable options: the airport in Madrid, Spain or the airport in Valladolid, Spain. A whopping 88 airlines operate in and out of the Madrid Airport, making Spain's busiest airport the far more common of the two through which to travel. From the airport, Madrid's metro system links to both the bus and train stations with only one line change. These stations, in turn, offer constant buses and trains to Salamanca.

The second option is the Valladolid Airport. While closer to Salamanca, only four airlines operate out of the airport, naturally making it the less common of the two airports. However, a couple of these airlines are low-cost airlines, therefore you might be able to find cheap flight tickets. Transportation options running from Valladolid to Salamanca include buses and trains, however you'll find fewer daily routes of both than what you'll find in Madrid.

Madrid to Salamanca by Bus
To get from Madrid to Salamanca by bus, follow signs in the airport to the metro. First, get on to line 8 (the pink line) to Nuevos Ministerios. From there, pick up the 6 line (gray line) to Conde de Casal. Follow signs to the Plaza de Conde de Casal exit, and once outside look for the Hotel Claridge. The Auto-Res (bus company) station is located right in the same building. With buses headed to the Salamanca Bus Station every hour between 8:00am and 10:00pm, it's the easiest way to get to Salamanca.

Madrid to Salamanca by Train
To reach Salamanca by train, follow the signs in the Madrid Airport to the metro. Get on to the 8 line (pink line) to Nuevos Ministerios, and then the 10 line (blue line) to Chamartín. The metro station is conveniently attached to the train station, so just follow the signs. Keep in mind, however, that only five or so trains head from Madrid towards the Salamanca Train Station each day.

Valladolid to Salamanca by Bus
Travelling from Valladolid to Salamanca by bus is the easiest way to do it. There are buses that run from the airport to Valladolid, however due to their infrequency the simplest option is to hail a cab and head straight to the bus station. The company Auto-Res operates bus routes between Valladolid and Salamanca, however if you're lucky you might be able to catch one of the few buses that goes runs an Airport-Valladolid-Salamanca route. Very few run the route each day, but check it out- if you can get on to one it's definitely a lot easier!

Valladolid to Salamanca by Train
Naturally you can also get to Salamanca from Valladolid via the Spanish railway system. Decide whether to take a cab directly to the train station, called Valladolid- Campo Grande, or to hop on a bus running from the airport to the center- although once in the center, you'd have to go about finding the station. Approximately five trains, spaced throughout the day, run daily from Valladolid and Salamanca.
